# Staff at a low

Officers here are generally reasonable, and the visibility problem is sharper than at a camp. Two things the general staff guidance does not cover.

The frame

The good news

## Officers here are reasonable

First, officers (a uniformed guard) at a low are generally reasonable. The population is not one that requires constant confrontation, and most officers would prefer a quiet shift. Do not make their job harder and they will not make yours harder. Once they have decided you are not a problem, you can joke with them.

The visibility problem

Second, the visibility problem is sharper here than at a camp. Being seen in extended private conversation with an officer reads as informing, and the suspicion spreads faster than any correction. When you need to talk to staff about anything beyond a passing exchange, bring someone from your car. Not for protection — for a witness who can say what was and was not discussed.

Be pleasant, be brief, do it in the open.
